War is messy, bloody and painful but unfortunately, it’s part of life.
David had once slain Goliath the giant and helped Israel defeat the Philistines. After many years, the Philistines returned to fight Israel again. They were led by Ishbibenob the son of Goliath.

2 Samuel 21:15,17.
“Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him.”

Sometimes, the very “enemies” we seem to have overcome seem to birth offspring which return to make war against us again. Maybe, you broke free from alcoholism, pornography, sin or unfaithfulness but after some time the same thing returned to make war with you again and the unfortunate thing is you are now older or more vulnerable.

One way to overcome resurgent wars is to seek the help of others who may have the energy and strength we lack. Abishai helped David; “Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him.”

Get others to counsel, pray, encourage, defend, check on you, or support you emotionally or financially. When you are sick and weak, you need others to nurse you back to full fitness.

You cannot fight every fight alone. Sometimes there are people around you whom
God has empowered to help you win your battles.
