Jeremiah 42:14,16
“No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell: Then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.”
Israel decided to seek refuge in Egypt; a place of relative peace and security for fear that the king of Babylon, who had previously invaded the land would attack again.
Our fear and security can be defined by our past experiences, circumstance or problem. Maybe you were abused, lost a child, marriage or job.
Security is not dependent on our circumstances, but on the Word of God. You can substitute God’s word with people, the familiar or comfortable. In the long run, you will discover that security can only be found in God.
God said to Israel; “It shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt.”
Let’s place our security in the Word and not in circumstances or human beings.
