Words are powerful and they can determine how far you go, or whether you succeed or fail. God commanded Moses to charge or speak to Joshua. His words were supposed to have an effect on him. Let’s examine the power of words.
Deuteronomy 3:28
“But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.”
I want you to notice four effects of Moses’ words on Joshua: Encouragement, strengthening, motivation (he shall go over), and accomplishment (he will cause them to inherit the land).
That is why you must be careful about the words you speak to your spouse, children, colleagues, etc because unwittingly you may be determining their destiny. You must also avoid negative words because they will have a negative effect on you.
I wonder how much further you would have gone if you had just received some positive words. You will be amazed at how much energy a little encouragement can release. Someone’s destiny may be in your mouth.
Make up your mind today to be an encourager and not a discourager.
