We sometimes focus so much on the spectacular, that we miss the supernatural.
God can speak to us in many ways, but there is one particular way that is common to all of us; it is called the still small voice of God. Some people refer to it as “something.” That “something” is the Holy Ghost. He is Jesus’ (person) representative on earth.
Does this mean every “something” is from the Lord? No. Because for example, not every voice is the voice of my wife. We need discernment to sift through the myriad of “somethings.” God spoke to Elijah in a still small voice (something).
1 Kings 19:11-12
“And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
Maybe you are not hearing God’s voice because you are looking for the spectacular: a wind, earthquake, fire, an angel, or you are hoping to see Jesus.
Listen to your heart because God may be speaking to you.
