Anger management is the ability to prevent and control your anger. Uncontrolled anger has led to conflict, divorce, murder and in some cases a broken relationship with God.

What can you do to manage your anger?

Proverbs 19:11

“The discretion of a man deferreth his anger;

And it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”

1. You need “discretion” to manage anger.

Discretion is the ability to control yourself. This can be achieved through the help of the Holy Spirit. Read the scriptures, pray and ask God to help you control yourself. It will strengthen your will.

2. Secondly, “defer” your anger.

To defer means to postpone or delay. Sometimes in a heated moment, it is better not to speak or say anything because in a fit of rage, you can say or do something which you will regret later. Defer your response and cool down. It will help you respond better.

3. Forgive.

To “pass over a transgression” is to forgive. Forgiveness can quickly extinguish the fire of anger. Mercy can help you to forgive others. Decide to be merciful.

4. Take the glory.

Glory means honor. The ability to control your anger can bring honor to you. Anyone can shout and scream in anger, but it takes a special kind of grace and person to control anger.

Decide to manage your anger and take the glory!
