Psalms 76:1-3
“In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion. There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.”

In the olden times, the presence of God was in Jerusalem because the ark of God was resident there. Now God is resident in our hearts, not a physical building.

This Psalm gives reasons why God was resident in Jerusalem. The same requirements are applicable today. Let’s examine them;

  1. You must know God
    “In Judah is God known.” To know God you must repent, believe and be cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
  2. You must glorify His name.
    “His name is great.” Your lifestyle and conduct must bring praise and honor to his name.
  3. You must be at peace with others.
    “In Salem also is his tabernacle.” Salem means peace. You must live in peace with others: Spouse, family, people etc.
  4. You must have a strong desire.
    “His dwelling place is in Zion.” Zion is an alternative name for Jerusalem and it means a dry place. Dryness symbolizes hunger and thirst for God.
  5. The presence of God releases His power.
    “There brake he the arrows.” When we carry the presence of God the weapons of the enemy, depression, fear, sin, etc will be broken.

Do you want God to live with you? Then follow these keys.
