Salt seasons food and makes it pleasant to eat. Another thing salt does is, it has the ability to preserve things.
One of the things we must learn to preserve is relationship. It’s difficult to stay in harmony with people because the same people who bring you joy are the same people who can cause you pain. If you take marriage for example, your ability to settle your differences will determine whether you enjoy your marriage or not.
I have personally observed that couples who fail to develop the ability to resolve conflicts have troublesome marriages. Some use manipulation, threats, withholding sex, and finances to try and resolve conflicts. This leads to hurts, wounds and control. If you were to ask me to give you one key for a successful marriage, I will say conflict resolution.
Mark 9:50
“Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.”
Jesus said to his disciples “salt is good”. He proceeded to give the two qualities of salt: it seasons and preserves. He advised them to have salt in themselves; this meant they must make peace with each other.
I want to ask you a question. Do you have salt in you? Are you a peacemaker or someone who delights in starting and prolonging conflicts?
Decide to be a peacemaker and be as salty as you can be!
