The anointing is the power of God. In the scriptures, oil is usually used as a symbol of the anointing. The anointing can be derived in several ways. The most common being prayer. There are, however, other lesser known ways through which the anointing can flow towards you.
“Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.”
Correction brings the anointing or the power of God. How can we tap into this?
1. You must be open to correction.
Sin drives away the anointing but repentance and obedience attract God. When Saul sinned against the Lord and was corrected by Samuel he refused to repent. Because of that, he lost the anointing. David on the other hand, quickly accepted his sin; concerning his adulterous relationship with Bathsheba. He remained anointed.
2. We must recognize that God uses people to speak to us.
Sometimes, God borrows people’s voices to correct us and we must discern it.
3. We must change our perspective concerning pain.
Pain can be a source of kindness and good. It may be unpleasant but it’s for our good.
4. Finally, correction releases the anointing or oil.
This is because repentance and holiness attract the presence and power of God.
Be open to correction and watch yourself drip with oil.
