There are Christians who believe that when you fall ill, you do not need to take medicine because prayer can heal you. There are also others who believe you must take medicine, so who is right?

In answering this question, I want us to examine how God helped King Hezekiah when he fell ill. God instructed Isaiah to boil some figs and lay it on Hezekiah’s boil.

2 Kings 20:7 reads “And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.”

What are the principles we can glean from this scripture?

1. We must be led by the Spirit of God. Hezekiah was instructed by God; he did not use any particular methodology, he was just led by the Spirit of God.

2. Isaiah used a combination of the natural and spiritual things to heal Hezekiah. It seems as led by the Spirit or allowed by your faith you can combine medicine with prayer. The fig which was a natural plant and faith were used.

3. Supernatural Healing can be gradual. The scripture says he recovered. By implication, I can say this was a gradual healing.

Do you need healing? Rely on the Spirit to show you what to do.
