“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”
During the credit crunch, some biblical truths came forcefully back to me. Basically, the world went into a financial mess because people were spending more than they could afford.
It does not need much common sense to know you don’t have to spend more than you earn. However, people came up with all forms of financial calculus, like derivatives, subprime loans, futures, trading, and all sorts of financial terms which ordinary people like me may not understand.
Many fanciful economic jargons have been invented to avoid the conclusion that you can spend more than you earn.
There was a departure from the “Old path” which is always the “Good way.” The word of God may look outdated but truth never goes out of fashion. In other words, be an old-timer operating with biblical principles which are over two thousand years old.
People try to find shortcuts to life: marriage, finances, breakthrough, success, business, and joy. All these gimmicks are temporal in nature, offering temporary results.
The old tried and tested principles of the word of God may look obsolete but at the end it abides forever.
Decide to stick to the word which never changes in spite of current trends. Old-time religion is for old-timers and it always works!
