Micah 6:7-8
“Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil?….He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

During the baptism of Jesus, the heavens were opened and a voice said, “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.” What did He do to win the pleasure of the Lord? It could not be ministry, because He was not as yet in ministry; it could not be the cross, because He had not gone to the cross. What are some of the things that please the Lord and win His favor?

Three things are mentioned which please God.

First of all, to do justly. The original meaning of that word is “judgment.” We must judge things the way God judges. For example, we must adopt God’s standards and values. Did you know God values obedience more than money?

Secondly, to love mercy: this means actively showing mercy to the weak, the poor and the vulnerable and not taking advantage of them.

Finally, to walk humbly with God. This means to be obedient, and follow the Lord wherever He will lead us through His Word and Spirit.

Please God by doing these things!
