Are you easily offended or short tempered? If you are, it will be difficult for you to maintain long term relationships because as long as you are close to people, someone is bound to step on your toe.

If you are married, it may be difficult to sustain a prolonged conversation with your spouse without trouble because some misplaced word can easily pierce your fragile emotions.

I believe if you are in such a situation, you will need some form of emotional healing and strength. Scripture says, take no heed to all words that are spoken else you will hear your servant curse you (Ecclesiastes 7:21). In other words, don’t be easily offended.

What can you do to avoid offence?

Psalms 119:165 states, “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”

When we love the Word of God; by reading and meditating on it, it can have two positive effects on us.

Firstly, we shall experience great peace because God will become the source of our peace not circumstances.

Secondly, we shall not be ‘easily offended.’ Why is this so? Because the word acts like a shock absorber to your soul; it helps you to absorb the painful and hurtful words of others.

Read it and obey it, and you shall not be easily offended!l
