Isaiah 11:2
“And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him.”

One of the things we need in our lives is the Spirit of the Lord. What can you do for the Spirit of the Lord to come upon you? Every servant has a Lord. Similarly, there cannot be a Lord where there is no servant.

What does a servant do, you may ask? A servant obeys the commands of his master. The centurion told Jesus in Luke 7:8, “For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth [it].”

I have been a pastor for many years. I speak with many people and can tell you that there are not many true servants in the house of God. There are many who go to church but do not follow the commandments of God.

A servant is someone who God commands with ease. When you become a servant, the grace and power of God and the Spirit of the Lord will come and assist you. Matthew 7:21-22 reads, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?”

Three groups of people are mentioned here: prophecy chasers; those who move from one deliverance camp to another; and those who follow miracles. They are all legitimate, but one thing is missing in their lives: God has never been their Lord.

Obeying God’s Word brings the Spirit of the Lord upon us. Where there are servants, there the Spirit of the Lord dwells.

Determine to be a true servant of God by observing and obeying His Word and the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you!
