Good judgment is the ability to make good decisions about what should be done.

John 5:30
“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.”

This scripture reveals principles Christ used to exercise good judgment.

1. Place the judgment of God above your judgment.
Jesus said “I can of my own self do nothing” In other words, he did not trust his own judgment but the father’s.

2. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
“As I hear I judge” Jesus depended on the voice of the Holy Spirit to make judgment. God can speak to your mind by placing a persistent idea there or speak to your spirit by giving you a conviction.

3. Let your judgment be just.
Jesus said “my judgment is just.” This means righteous or holy. Any decision that involves evil is not the judgment of the Lord.

4. Seek the will of God in every situation.
‘I seek not my own will,” When faced with a decision, read the Bible and pray to find the will of God.

5. Let God take the initiative.
“The father which has sent me.” God always took the first step and he followed. Example in marriage, the word must lead not your feelings.

Use the mind of Christ to exercise good judgment.
