Exodus 12:48
“And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.”
In this verse, all who wanted to be partakers of the Passover lamb had to be circumcised.
The Passover lamb was sacrificed, eaten, and its blood applied on the lintels and doors of the children of Israel. That same night they were delivered from Egypt and Pharaoh. The condition was, you needed to be circumcised to partake of it.
What are the lessons we can draw from this? Jesus is symbolic of the Passover lamb “Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:” 1 Corinthians 5:7.
Through him, we receive deliverance from “Egypt” the world and the devil “Pharaoh”. Through him, we become born again and become citizens of the kingdom of heaven “Caanan” the promised land.
The condition to benefit or eat of the lamb was circumcision. What does that imply?
Genuine repentance means we must shed our old nature and put on a new nature before we can claim the benefits of the lamb.
There are many who claim to be born again but have never repented, it makes their salvation questionable, don’t be one of them.
