Do you know you can gauge how close you are to people or the depth of your friendship?
This is necessary because everyone needs a friend he can confide in and be relaxed in his presence. Some people can use your secrets and weaknesses against you because you told them.
Delilah betrayed Samson when he told her his whole heart and divulged the secret of his strength. Be careful who you talk to. How can you decipher who you can talk to?
1 John 4:17
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.”
The original Greek word translated as boldness means “openly frank.” Let us examine these two words.
You can talk to people once you are assured of their love because you know “they have your back” not your wallet. The people who love us are the people we can talk to.
Two characteristics of such people are;
- You can be “open” with them. You can tell them your secrets without looking over your shoulder. You can close both eyes and go to sleep knowing they will not shave off your hair.
- You can be “frank” with them. You can tell them what you think (either negative or positive) and you know they will not misconstrue it because they wear “the sunglasses of love” and they will filter everything through it.
So, be careful who you talk to!
