The more I grow, the more I realize the importance of being an independent thinker. Independent means, not subject to the control of others. The views, advice and counsel of other people are important because you don’t know everything. However, after you have received all the counsel, you must still analyze all the information and make an independent decision. That’s why everyone has a head. At the end of the day, you know yourself better than anyone else and will bear the consequences of every decision you make. You can’t take good decisions with poor information. It is very easy to develop a “herd mentality” and believe the majority is always right. This could be the general way of thinking and behavior in a country, family, your circle of friends, workplace or even in church. “Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.” Acts 19:32 Paul went to preach in Ephesus and some businessmen whose business was affected organized a mob against him using the disguise of religion. A great number of unsuspecting people joined the fight thinking they were defending their God. “the more part knew not wherefore they were come together” They did not know they were stooges defending other people’s business interest. People vote for political parties, marry particular people, hate others...

Romans 2:11 “For there is no respect of persons with God.” Sometimes, we can look at the successes of certain people and think God created them specially or they have a certain degree of influence over others that we do not have. This may be true in human terms but there is no respect of persons with God. He does not relate to us based on race, sex, gender, age, family background or financial power.  We all stand an equal chance before God. This understanding is crucial if you are to be all that God created you to be. It will unlock your talents, gifts, strength and potential. God can do whatever He did for others for you. You can be as anointed as Paul and financially blessed like Job and Solomon.  What you have to do is to believe in the will, promises and the leading of the Holy Spirit.  Obedience to the Lord is also an ingredient that cannot be omitted; and you can be all that God created you to be. Is there something you want to do? Maybe you want to build a house, start a ministry, or get married. One of the important inner qualities you need is “Self belief.” John 14:1-2 reads “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you.” One of the qualities we need to be successful at what we do is to have self belief. Jesus said to His disciples, “Believe in me!” Self belief can be seen as arrogance, but not when God is the source of this form of confidence. Jesus said to His disciples, “I will build mansions for you because God is the source of this plan. Believe in Him but don’t forget to also believe in me.” Self belief creates confidence, faith, boldness, adrenaline and action, which are necessary ingredients for success.
