Sin destroys relationships. In the time of Noah, God destroyed the world with water because of sin. Later, Noah sent out a dove to check if the rain had stopped. This is what happened:
Genesis 8:11
“When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth”
We can learn a few lessons about how to restore broken relationships.
1. Send out a dove.
A dove is a symbol of peace and we must take the initiative “to send out a peace dove” to restore broken relationships. It could be with your spouse, child, friend, etc. Don’t focus on who is right.
2. The dove returned with an olive leaf.
Olive oil is obtained from the olive tree. It’s a symbol of the power of God. Power in prayer depends on peaceful relationships with God. Peter said: “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect… so that nothing will hinder your prayers” 1 Peter 3:7.
3. Peace brings restoration.
Peace can restore lost friends, money, etc. The land was restored to Noah, because of the “dove and the olive tree.”
Take the initiative to send out a “peace dove” and you will see the power of God restore what you have lost.
