One day, a beggar came to ask John Wesley for money. He was famed to be very gracious towards beggars. On that particular day, he dismissed the beggar. When the beggar went away he regretted his actions.

He commented that even if he did not give him money, he could have given him kind words to encourage him.

Words are free but most of the time we are reluctant to offer kind words to people. Sometimes with our words we hurt the people closest to us the most: our spouses, children, friends and work colleagues.

Jeremiah 6:14
“They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.”

In this verse, God commented on the activities of false prophets in the days of Jeremiah. He noted that although their words were false, they still contained some healing abilities. “They have healed the hurt of my people slightly saying”

From today make it your objective to offer kind words as much as you can. Someone needs it. Encourage, affirm, praise and speak kind words to someone today. You will be surprised how far someone can go with a little encouragement.
