To stereotype means to believe unfairly that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same

There are different ways of stereotyping people. It can be based on race, color, economic status or family background.

We must not allow people to stereotype us otherwise we will see ourselves as carbon copies of who they think we must be and we will inadvertently become that.

Titus 1:12-13

One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith”

The Cretians; the people from the island of Crete had been stereotyped by others. Worse still even one of their own; a prophet was also affirming that it was true. They were collectively described as liars, slow bellies (gluttons) and evil.

Stereotyping can give you a low self-esteem and rob you of your full potential. It can undermine your faith and make you believe that God cannot change your life.

We serve a God who sees all men as equal, and he is not a respecter of persons. With God, all things are possible so refuse to be stereotyped and believe to be who the Bible says you are.
