When I was in high school, I noticed many of the Christians failed their exams because they felt Christianity granted them automatic success and so they did not have to study as hard as their non-Christian counterparts.

There are people who refuse to take personal responsibility for their lives because they believe once they are serving God, everything is going to be alright; they become spectators of their own lives.

They may neglect their diet, weight or exercise, and develop certain diseases.

Failure to study hard in school may lead to failure in exams. They may be so tied up in ministry work they can neglect their marriage and find themselves divorced.

Failure to plan financially can leave them financially destitute. Epaphraditus neglected his health for the sake of the ministry and almost died. This is what Paul had to say about him.

Philippians 2:30,
“because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.”

As much as God has responsibilities towards us, there are certain personal responsibilities that we still owe to ourselves if we are to be all that God wants us to be.

Let’s take them up!
