Deuteronomy 17:8-9
“If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, [being] matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the Lord thy God shall choose; and thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and enquire; and they shall shew thee the sentence of judgment.”

I was recently having a conversation with someone who was deeply in love with a gentleman. She was convinced that although he was not interested, God had told her in her spirit and dreams that they would get married.

When you have a deep, emotional attachment to people and issues, or even an office or family issue, it can be difficult to approach it objectively and therefore discern the voice of God. It is a judgment between blood and blood or stroke and stroke; it may be too close to call.

This issue can be resolved fairly well by seeking the opinion of a spiritual and matured person who is not emotionally or any other way involved. This person could be your priest, pastor or Levite, or a fellow Christian whose counsel could help you to separate the chaff from the wheat!
