1 Samuel 16:11-13
“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.”
Do you feel inadequate? I am happy to inform you that you are worth more than you think. David was someone who was born into a poor and disadvantaged family. He came from a relatively unknown family. Out of his family members, he was the most disregarded. When they were looking for a king, his father forgot about him. The prophet had to ask, “Is there someone else in this house?” before he was called.
You may be like David, disregarded by many: your society, parents, or even your friends. Sometimes, even in a class, your teacher may not bother to look at your work. He just marks it wrong because he thinks you are always wrong.
Some of us are hurting in the same way. You seem to think nothing will happen; nothing will work out. Do not look at your current circumstances and be discouraged. Look to Jesus and His Word.
Pray and ask God to help you see yourself through his eyes. Search the scriptures to find out what He has to say concerning you!
