One of the most complex things in life is passing judgment. For example, how do you judge two people who come from two different backgrounds? One can turn to crime and the other a good citizen, loving parent and Christian.

Sometimes, people are jailed wrongly and suffer unnecessarily because of wrong judgment. That’s why the ultimate judge of all is God. Since judgment is very complex, we are told to “judge nothing before the time.” The time is when God Himself comes to judge us all.

1 Corinthians 4:5

“Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.”

Judgment is difficult for two reasons.

1. We don’t have all the facts.

There are “hidden things,” which have to be taken into account.

2. God judges motives not actions.

No one can read the heart of man. Only God can do that.

Does this mean humans cannot judge? We can, but it will be unfair in many instances. Only God is the true judge who judges righteously!
