When I travel overseas, I usually bring gifts for my kids. Their usual question when I return is, “Daddy, what did you buy for me?” As their father, they expect me to bring them something as an expression of my love.
Psalms 36:9
“For with thee is the fountain of life: In thy light shall we see light.”
This scripture describes two spiritual gifts our Heavenly Father has for us; Water and Light. Let’s examine them.
- Water.
One thing water does is; it quenches our thirst. Jesus said, “If any man thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” (John 7:37). Man is always “thirsty,” and he may try to quench this thirst by seeking after wealth, fame, education, sex or even religion. The only person who can quench our thirst is Jesus. That’s why we have to receive Him into our hearts. After this, we can move to the next logical step.
- Light.
The Word of God provides light to guide us. To see and utilizethis light, we would need light. What light is this? It is the light of “holiness.” Scripture says, “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, then we have fellowship…” (1 John 1:7). Holiness will help you understand the light of His Word.
God has two gifts for you; Water and Light.
Quench your thirst by giving your life to Jesus; and walk in the light of Holiness to receive the light of the scriptures!
