I knew someone who used to be a brilliant student and a man with great potential but he had one weakness; drinking. Alcohol destroyed his potential.
One weakness can hold your whole life hostage. Do you have a weakness with: porn, bitterness, food, pride etc. How can you gain victory over your weakness?
Romans 8:10
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
There are three principal “characters” in this verse: Christ, the Body and the Spirit. Each of them influences us in different ways. Let’s look at them in detail;
The Body
Our bodies have a natural tendency to do evil. The body remains unchanged even when you know God. That’s why the food you like doesn’t change even after you become saved.
Christ
When you become “saved”, Christ comes to live in you, then; the body “dies.” This does not mean literal death. This means you don’t respond to sin. Dead people don’t respond to external stimulus.
The Spirit
This is because the Holy Spirit in you supplies you “life” or the nature of God. This gives you power to say no to sin. Because of this you become “righteous.”
Do you want to have victory over sin? Give yourself to Jesus and feed on the Word of God daily. It will supply you with “life” and victory over sin.
