Psalms 106:32-33
“They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips”.

Whenever there is strife, there is temptation. When we are angry, our emotions tend to overwhelm us and we sometimes say out of frustration things we are not supposed to say.

You can easily say something very hurtful to your spouse in the heat of a marital argument and afterwards regret, apologize and withdraw your words.

Words can leave an internal wound that sometimes take a long time to heal. At other times it cannot be healed. Even if the person we offend forgives and forgets, we fail to recognize that our words also have spiritual consequences.

The complaints of the children of Israel vexed Moses so much that one day he “spoke unadvisedly with his lips.” Pressure made him say things he was not supposed to say. The consequence was that, he did not enter the Promised Land.

We must be mindful when we are angry knowing that “walls have ears.” God may be listening through the walls and will judge us based on what we say.

“Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:36).
