Who is a Prophet?
I want to share with you some features of a prophet. God appeared to Moses and told him he was a prophet. Moses stammered, so Aaron his brother who could speak well was appointed to speak for him.

God said in Exodus 4:15-17, “You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.”

What can we learn from this?

  1. A Prophet is a spokesman of God
He speaks on behalf of the Lord. In this arrangement, Moses was “God” and Aaron was the Prophet.
  2. A Prophet is instructed by God
God said he will teach Moses what to do.
  3. A Prophet is a man of power
When prophets speak the word of God, it unleashes the power of God. Prophets can work signs and wonders.
  4. The staff or rod
This symbolizes the name of Jesus. Moses used a staff we use the name of Jesus to work signs and wonders. Prophets must glorify this name, not their own names.
