Philippians 3:13-14
“This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling
of God in Christ Jesus.”

Amnesia means loss of memory. It is sometimes important to intentionally develop amnesia if you want to recover from a setback or progress to another level. The good old days can sometimes act like a shackle, keeping you perpetually chained to the past and preventing you from moving on to new things.

I was recently talking to someone who was going through a divorce. I advised him that inasmuch as the experience was painful and traumatic, it was important for him to forget about it. Otherwise he was not going to be able to embrace his future.

Some people are chained to bad relationships, businesses, and careers because they cannot forget the good old days. To leave a life of sin and follow Christ will demand you forget the good old days.

Do you want to move on? There is only one thing to do: forget the good old days.

Until you develop the capacity to forget the good old days, you cannot press on!
