Philippians 4:19
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. God has promised to supply our needs not our wishes.”
This means what we receive from God is based on his estimation of what he thinks we need.
Commercial pilots fly very expensive planes that cost millions of dollars. This is not because they have an expensive taste but because they need it to perform their duties. The issue is not cost but need.
One day someone asked me to pray for him so he could perform miracles. I asked him whether he was serving God and ministering to people; and his answer was no. I then told him, “you don’t need it for anything so I wonder if God will give it to you.”
When Moses finished building the tabernacle, the twelve princes of Israel came to present wagons for the transportation of the tabernacle to the Levites. The family of Kohath who were also Levites did not receive any. The reason was; they bore the ark on their shoulders and did not need it.
“But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.”(Numbers 7:9)
Until we understand this principle we can be envious of people with certain gifts or wish for things we don’t qualify for. This can lead to frustration.
