Sometimes, there is the tendency to put your life on hold while you wait for a particular promise of God to be fulfilled. It could be healing, marriage, a child or your finances.

It’s like refusing to drive your car because the music player is not working. Although, it may not be working, there are other aspects of the car you can enjoy while you wait for the music.

Jeremiah 29:4-5

“Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;”

Israel was taken captive by the Babylonians and this was God’s counsel to them.

In summary, he advised them to make the most out of slavery by maximizing the situation. Imagine a slave building a house;“Build ye houses” when his desire is to be free and to return to his own land. It almost sounds self defeating and contradictory.

Are you waiting on something before you start living a full life? Make the most out of every situation while you wait for your breakthrough. This will ensure you don’t miss out on other blessings God may have for you within the situation.
