Jesus warned about the proliferation of false prophets in the last days. How can you recognize one?

Saul was a king and a Prophet, but later he became a false prophet. Let’s examine some signs.

1 Samuel 18:10-11

And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

What lessons can we learn from this?

1. Backslidden

False prophets can be servants of God who started well and have backslidden. Saul had changed.

2. Replacement

When the Holy Spirit leaves an evil spirit can replace him. That was Saul’s case.

3. Gifts

Evil spirits can manifest spiritual gifts. Saul prophesied under their influence.

4. Fruit of the spirit.

Jesus said by their fruits you shall know them not their gifts. Saul lacked the fruit of love; he tried to kill David several times.

5 Habitual sin.

Saul was a habitual sinner he even spent his last night on earth in the company of a witch.

6. Mixture

Saul was a mixture of good and bad.

7. Confusion.

This mixture raises persistent confusion in the mind. Is this of God or not?
