Proverbs 3:11-12

“My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke,

because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.”

Most of us don’t like correction because it exposes faults and weaknesses in our character.

However, God disciplines and corrects us as and when necessary and it’s important to have the right attitude. He may do this through people, the scriptures, or events in our lives.

What’s the right response? Let’s examine a few.

1. Appreciate the reason.

Discipline is training that corrects and mold us. It makes us better people.

2. Understand the motivation

God disciplines us because he loves us and delights in us not because he hates us.

3. Do not resent discipline.

We cannot receive the blessing in discipline if we are annoyed.

4. Don’t despise discipline.

Wshould not look down on it otherwise we will fail to learn the useful lessons in it.

5. Finally, every father disciplines his children for their good and we should expect it if God is our father.
