One of the things we struggle with is the voice and leading of The Holy Spirit. I believe God is speaking all the time but we don’t hear it because it takes knowledge, discernment, and experience to identify and follow His Voice.
How can you recognize a tree if you don’t know its leaves? The answer is you can recognize it by its fruit; a mango tree can be recognized by its fruit. The voice of God can also be recognized by the fruit of the Spirit.
‘And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.’
Exodus 4:14
When Moses was sent by God to deliver Israel he protested, saying that he stammered. God told him to use Aaron as his spokesman; I want you to notice the sign that God mentioned as proof that Aaron would use to know that God had sent him. He said “he will be glad” or joyful in his heart.
Among the fruit of the Spirit, there is joy. Sometimes God leads us by creating joy in our hearts, especially in a situation which does not really call for celebration. What is joyful about going to face Pharaoh with a stick? Nothing. However, when God speaks, the joy of the Lord can lead you.
Listen to your heart!
