Do you want God to hear your prayer? Maybe you need healing, a job, peace or even salvation. David was a man who knew how to pray and get results.

Let’s examine one of his prayers.

Psalms 143:1-2

“Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications: In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. And enter not into judgment with thy servant: For in thy sight shall no man living be justified.”

The principles in this Psalm teach us vital keys concerning prayer.

1. Ask For Mercy.

Supplication means to ask for mercy. This is important because all men are guilty of sin so we cannot approach God on the basis of justice; we will lose the case. That is why he went on further to say, “Enter not into judgment with thy servant.”

2. Depend On God’s Faithfulness.

Although we may have been unfaithful to God in many instances, we must remember that God is faithful. We can trust Him to help us. He will not relate to us based on our attitude but on His nature.

3. Depend On God’s Righteousness.

Only the righteous can approach God because He is holy. The only way to do this is to be washed by the blood of the Lamb. That’s why you need to be saved.

The result of this will be answered prayer.
