Have you ever been in a situation when things have gone from bad to worse? Well, I have!
Judges 7:2 says, “And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, mine own hand hath saved me.”

In a time when Gideon was facing the first major battle of his life against the Midianites, he was getting less help instead of more help. God downsized his army instead of increasing it. The situation went from bad to worse. Humanly speaking, it meant the battle was going to be more difficult, but divinely speaking, it meant more grace.

Paul said, “When I am weak, then am I strong.” Sometimes, God will remove the sources of our natural strength and change a situation from bad to worse. He does this so that, when we gain the victory, we will not say, “My own hand has saved me.” Take heart if your situation has become worse, because it has become better. God said, “My strength is made perfect in your weakness.”
