Job 2:11
“Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.”
How can you tell your friends from your enemies?
It is very difficult to tell, especially when all is going well with you. The rich have many friends but the poor is despised of his neighbour.
People can befriend you for various reasons including what they can gain from you. Their friendship may not be based purely on the basis of enjoying and appreciating you as a friend. Thank God for your sorrow. Wipe the tears from your eyes because one blessing of misfortune is this: it exposes your friends and enemies.
Job found out he had only three friends when he had his trials although in his good times, he was celebrated by many. How many friends have you?
Your misfortune is a calculator that can count friends and enemies. Don’t waste it!
