Psalms 61:5-6
“For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name. Thou wilt prolong the king’s life: and his years as many generations.”
Long life is a product of many things; both physical and spiritual.
Spiritually, there are things you can do to prolong your life and this verse reveals one of the secrets. Let’s examine it in detail.
The first thing I want you to notice is, there are certain blessings which are our heritage or inheritance, “thou hast given me the heritage”.
Secondly, long life can be inherited from the Lord. “Thou wilt prolong the king’s life”
Thirdly, one criteria for accessing this inheritance is “the fear of the Lord”
The fear of the Lord can help you to live a long and healthy life, so walk in obedience because obedience is counted as the fear of the Lord.
