Numbers 16:48
“He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.”
One day, there was a plague in Israel. A plague is a disastrous, evil or contagious disease with a high rate of mortality. A plague can afflict an individual or family. It could be a divorce, sickness or poverty.
How do you deal with a plague? We can learn from the response of Moses and Aaron.
Numbers 16:46
“Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer and put incense in it, along with burning coals from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the Lord; the plague has started.”
- You Need To Burn “Incense.”
This symbolizes prayer. Psalm 141:2 states, “May my prayer be set before you like incense.”
- You Need Coal or Fire.
This is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. He is often depicted as fire in the Bible. Only prayer directed by the Holy Spirit is acceptable to God.
- You Need A “Censer.”
A censer is a pan used to collect coal. This represents the name of Jesus. Only the name of Jesus can grant access to the fire of the Holy Spirit.
- You Need Atonement.
This means to cover with blood. Now, we have something better; our sins are washed by the blood.
