Exodus 14:16

But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

When Moses delivered the children of Israel from bondage, he journeyed with them to the Red Sea; a dead end. Pharaoh and his army were in hot pursuit to recapture them and bring them back into bondage. He faced an insurmountable problem: the sea!

There are times in life that our problems seem insurmountable. The only thing that can save us is the power of God. Your Red Sea could be a disease, a bad relationship with a child, or a spiritual problem.

I want you to know your Red Sea can part into two because the sea parted for Moses.

The first thing Moses did was to lift up his hand and rod to heaven. Lifted hands symbolize prayer and the rod symbolizes the name of Jesus. In Isaiah 11:1, Jesus is referred to as the rod.

This brings us to the next step.

The sea represents the earth and the problems and challenges we sometimes face.

When you lift your hand and rod in prayer to heaven, it fills you with power to control events on the earth.

Stretch your hand with rod (prayer and the name of Jesus) over your red sea or problems and watch them disappear. Fear not, prayer works!
