Jeremiah 51:7 “Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, that made all the earth drunken:the nations have drunken of her wine;therefore the nations are mad.” The most economically powerful nations influence the financially weaker nations of the world. This is because the rich rule over the poor. This influence is not only economical but extends to almost every area of life; spiritual, cultural, morals and even the mindset of the world etc. Babylon was the most powerful country in its time because it had a “golden cup” in its hands. This can be symbolic of wealth and luxury typified respectively by the gold and the wine. From that powerful position, it influenced the world. Wine is also symbolic of influence because wine literally influences the brain. The influence of Babylon was negative because it made the nations “mad.” In other words, it corrupted their thinking or mindset; and by extension, their values, behavior, culture etc. Let us pray for the leaders of the nations because of the influence they wield. If we don’t, they can use their power and influence to make the nations mad. They can export wrong thinking and values. Kakra...

What Is Freedom? “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 I love democracy because it promotes freedom especially freedom of worship. I have been to a communist country and it made me appreciate freedom. However, the word “Freedom” means different things to different people. Someone once said, that some one’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist. Jesus described freedom, as first knowing the truth, which is the Word of God. This means the Bible is the book which determines what a man can and cannot do. Secondly, it describes the boundaries of every man’s freedom as either releasing or restraining you; “…And the truth shall set you free.” For example, you cannot have sex with someone just because you feel like it. The word determines who and when. You are free to do it only under marital conditions. A car that has no brake and is free to travel at any speed will be destroyed; so is a life that has unlimited freedom. Many marriages, life’s businesses, ministries, and potentials have been ruined because of unlimited freedom. May we lead lives regulated by the word! Kakra...

Have you ever wondered whether you can laugh again? Maybe you have been through a bitter divorce and have given up on marriage, maybe you failed an exam and have resigned yourself to it, or you are struggling financially and think it is too late for you because you are now above 50? God sent a message to Sarah through an angel that she was going to have a child. Sarah laughed because she felt it was too late; she was too old and experiencing menopause. Genesis 18:12 reads, “Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” Sometimes, age can make you feel you are beyond redemption because all your opportunities and chances have slipped away. We must not allow age to determine what God can do. There are great men of God who God used after sixty. There are people who were broke but who became millionaires after sixty. There are people who have married and given birth after forty so you can laugh again. It is better to die in hope than to die in unbelief. Come out of the shadows and begin to believe God for great things. Irrespective of your age, the power of God can make you laugh again. Kakra...
