Scripture encourages us to trust in the Lord, and not necessarily to understand Him. As humans, we have been trained to reason so anything we cannot understand is naturally viewed as evil. Sometimes, there is a tendency to think that some of the good things that God has blessed us with can be taken away by people who are stronger, wealthier, more influential and more powerful than us. Proverbs 20:22 “Say not thou, I will recompense evil;but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee.” There are times in life when we may feel we have not been treated fairly. Sometimes in marriage, one partner can feel exploited and abused financially and emotionally. Sometimes at work or in business, you may feel cheated. Maybe, something you were promised failed to materialize, or you were overlooked when promotion came.   The temptation may be to retaliate by rewarding evil for evil. This may be understandable, but it is not spiritual. Serving God can be dangerous; because righteousness can make you a target of the wicked and even religious people. Jesus was not crucified by sinners, he was crucified by religious people.  Genesis 40:15 “For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.” Joseph was victimized because of righteousness. It is dangerous to be discouraged because it drains your strength and takes away your resolve to fight. Maybe you lost your job, or you are going through a heartbreak, or you failed an exam. How can you deal with discouragement?
