David’s favorite place was not the beach, a stadium, or a luxurious resort. His favorite place was the house of God. Mind you, he was a king. One day in church was more valuable to him than a thousand days in the office.
“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.”
In fact, he was willing to sacrifice his throne in the palace to take the place of a security man in God’s house. It is good to go to church every Sunday to hear the Word of God. The house of God is a place where we can have access to His counsel by the teaching of His Word.
The level of blessing on your life is dependent on the type of counsel available to you. Psalm 1:1-3 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
You could have all kinds of people influencing you apart from God. When we come to church we give God the opportunity to influence us to take the right decisions.
Make sure you go to church this Sunday to receive the counsel of God!
